zenCart Tutorial: How to add Product Attributes in zenCart


You can also add special attributes to any product like color, fabric and size etc. You have to follow some simple steps to add product attributes in Zen cart.


  • Login to admin panel then Go to the Catalog menu -> Select Option Name Manager option. You can see the following window on the screen.

  • Type the name of attribute. Then set sort order for the attribute. Select in which format you want to display its options in a product. It may be radio button or check box. Suppose we are adding color attribute. Then type color in the textbox. Set the sort order. Choose radio button as the display format. Then click on insert button to add this attribute in the list.

  • Here you can see that color attributed has been successfully added to the list. Similar you can add other attributes.
  • Let us assign some option values to the color attribute. Click on the option values button at the top. You can see the following window on the screen.

  • First select the attribute from dropdown list. Then type the option value. It may be black, red etc. here we are adding black option value to the color attribute. Then set the order according to your preference. Then click on insert button. This option is successfully added to the color attribute. Similarly you can add other values to the product attribute.

  • Now you can add this attribute to a specific product. Click on the Attribute Controller button at the top. Then select the product to which you want to add the attribute. Scroll down and select the desired attribute from attribute list. On the right hand side, you can see option values. Select the option value and click on insert button. in this way you can add product attributes in Zen cart.
