myBB Tutorials: Configuration Management in MyBB


Configuration menu allows you to make significant changes in MyBB free forum package. Here are a number of options included under configuration menu.

• Custom Profile Fields

This section allows you to edit, delete, and manage your custom profile fields for various MyBB forum users. As you click on Configuration -> Custom Profile Fields option, you can see the following window.



You can also add new information field. For this purpose, you have to click on the Add New Profile Field.

• Word Filters

This feature allows you to manage a listing of words or phrases which are automatically replaced in posts on your forum. It is useful for replacing swear and unappropriate words and such.

• My Code

Custom My Code allows you to create additional My Code for your members to use in their messages. Go to the Configuration -> My Code option. You can see the following window.

• Add New My Code

Here you can add a new custom My Code to your forum. You can use the My Code Sandbox below the form to test your regular expression and replacement before saving.

• Languages

In this section, you can choose the installed packages to edit the language files, edit the files with another language, or edit the language's properties.

 

 

 

 

• Post Icons

Post icons are very much similar to Smilies. This section allows you to edit, delete, and manage your post icons. You can also add single or multiple post icons in MyBB free forum package.

• Help Documents

This section allows you to manage your help documents. You can also add new help documents or new help sections. The main objective of help documents is to provide necessary information to the MyBB users.

• Plugins

This section allows you to activate, deactivate, and manage the Plugins that you have uploaded to your forum's Plugins directory. To hide a plugin from view, but not lose any stored information from it, click the Deactivate link.

• Attachment Types

Here you can create and manage attachment types which define which types of files users can attach to posts. There are a number of formats that are allowed to attach with posts. Still you can also add new attachments to the list.

• Moderator Tools

Custom moderator tool allows you to create combinations of moderator actions that can be used on both threads and posts. These can then be used like the default tools when managing your forum. Here you can manage your custom thread tools. You can also add new thread tool or new post tools according to your requirement.

• Spiders/Bots

This section allows you to manage the search engine spiders & bots automatically detected by your forum. You're also able to see when a particular Bot last visited. You can also add new bot in MyBB free form package.

• Calendars

This section allows you to manage the calendars on your board. If you change the display order for one or more calendars make sure you submit the form at the bottom of the page. You can also create new calendar in MyBB forum package.

 

• Warning System

Here you can manage the list of different warning types staff are allowed to issue to users. You can also add new warning types and new warning levels in MyBB forum package.

 

• Thread Prefixes

Thread prefixes allow you to define prefixes that users can assign to their threads. Threads can then be filtered by prefix within a forum. You can also add New Thread Prefixes in MyBB forum package.
