A great feature about Magento shopping cart is that it not only allows you to create an online store for physical products but also gives an option for selling downloadable and digital products/objects such as EBooks, Executable software applications, Graphics, etc.
- You will set up a digital product much like you took in the previous steps in setting up a simple product and the first step you will take is to Navigate to the Catalog > Manage Products Link from the top of your screen.
- Once on this page you will need to select “Downloadable Product” from the Product type drop down menu. After you have selected downloadable product click “Continue” and you will taken to a new product setup page much like you saw in setting up a simple product except that this time you will have an option at the bottom of the menu on the left for “Downloadable Information”.
- After you have entered the basic information about your product you will need to navigate to this “Downloadable Information” link and enter the information that relates to how your digital product is delivered. You will be given the option to either upload, or provide a link for, both a sample download of your product and the full version.
