Installing a new theme on Magento is a slightly different process than many CMS or shopping cart solutions. While it is not overly complex there are afew steps that need to be taken.
- First you will need to navigate to System > Magento Connect > Magento Connect Manager and then login with your master admin username and password. This will take you to the Magento Connect Manager and then you can click on a link titled “Search for Modules via Magento Connect” which will take you to the Magento Marketplace where you can search for themes. There are several other Magento Theme marketplaces that you can search also with a little research.
- Once you have found a them you will need the Theme’s Extension key which you will paste into the spot on the Magento Connect Manager titled Paste Extension Key to install.
- Once the key is pasted click install.
- Now there will be some additional information that you will need to enter under System > Configuration > Design > Theme. In order for your theme to work correctly you will need to enter the name of the theme under the field “Default”
